Ruth Box
40-year-old Ruth Box, is a talented singer, one-time presenter with Revival
Radio and currently a youth manager with Mission Aviation Fellowship,
based in Glasgow.
Ruth was born in Stonehouse, attended Bishopbriggs High School and now
lives in Kirkintilloch. She is a member of Woodhill Evangelical Church
where she continues her musical background running the Youth Praise Band.
For 13 years Ruth worked with the Trustee Savings Bank, then set up the
Scottish office of Youth for Christ before moving to MAF.
Ruth is the driving force behind a project to open a unique cafe called
Sanctuary in Glasgow. To begin with the cafe will be
open Thursday to Sunday from 6 in the evening, through the night until
5am. It will be a place where people can pop in for a
coffee, some food and, if they want, have a chat with a trained youth
worker on any issues they may be facing.
It is hoped that Sactuary will open in Sporting Heroes in Glasgow's Sauchiehall
Street, in August 2006.
The next phase will be to open 24 hours, seven days a week with a vision for Sanctuary to be opened in every city in the UK.
Ruth features in the Wednesday People slot of Kirkintilloch Today in May 2006
